For some inexplicable reason, I was wondering about Yondu’s past, and then I thought it’d be cool that one potential head canon-y theory is that he was a Ravager to start with, but through circumstances (probably a mutiny), gained control of the Ravager army. Then my mind wandered to ‘How in the heck did they have an outfit for Gamora, when most of the Ravagers we see in the movie are either outright male, or coded male/masculine’?
And then this happened. A silly sketch that turned into… an even sillier hastily colored in one.
Without going into the long-ass details and mental gymnastics*, I figured it’d be neat if the gang Yondu ran with in the early days of the Ravagers were all based upon the original Guardians of the Galaxy. Not that they would be called as such, but sort of an homage-y thing. (And if there’s already a backstory established, well… shoot)
There’d be some differences (like Charlie-27 -back left- and Aleta Ogord -right- perhaps being formerly from Xandar as opposed to their original backstories, and Nikki hailing from another world altogether as opposed to Mercury), much like how Yondu had similar elements as his comic counterpart, but was overall a completely different character. And in the case of Aleta… that may be a good thing, lmao. Martinex (the weird guy in the back right) was the hardest to draw, because crystal-y people are my weakness. But he kinda had to be there, since he was a founding member in the comics. I wasn’t up for Talon today. Sorry. :(
*My guess is, the original Ravager captain betrayed his team; Charlie, Aleta, and Nikki p. died in said betrayal and Yondu was the only one who survived. He killed the Captain with his arrow, assumed control the Ravagers and that was that. *shrug* Who knows, who cares. Ahahahaaa. XP
